Toolaby

The ExtensionPay alternative

ExtensionPay takes 5%.Toolaby takes 0.5%.

Or $25 a month with no fee at all. And your extension gets more: a paywall in its popup, free uses, licences checked on the device, webhooks and an API. One command moves your ExtPay code and copies your plans.

A dash: neither ExtensionPay’s site nor its README mentions it, read on 2 October 2026. Where ExtensionPay goes further: it supports Firefox, which Toolaby does not yet, bills quarterly as well as monthly and yearly, and lists no cap on users. Toolaby’s plans include 2,500 devices a month on Hobby and 50,000 on Pro; past them nothing stops, and we write to you. If ExtensionPay’s side has changed, tell us at hello@toolaby.app.

The paywall

Your plans, in your extension.

ExtensionPay opens a payment page in a new browser tab. Toolaby shows your plans in your extension’s own popup, where your user already is, and opens Stripe Checkout once they choose one. This one is live: press a plan.

  • Your extension’s icon, name and colours

Fees

What 5% costs as you grow.

ExtensionPay takes 5% of each charge. Toolaby takes 0.5% on Hobby, or nothing on Pro at $25 a month, whichever costs you less.

ExtensionPay’s 5% is the fee its site lists, read on 2 October 2026; it offers lower fees to high-volume accounts on request. Stripe’s own processing fees are the same on both and are left out. Hobby includes 2,500 devices a month and Pro 50,000; past them nothing stops or is charged, and we write to you. Pro is also $240 a year.

Switching

Three steps, one command.

Your ExtPay code stays as it is. Toolaby answers its calls.

  1. 01

    Make your tool

Sign up and add your extension as a tool. You start on Test, with Stripe’s test cards, and connect Stripe when you go Live.

    Request access
  2. 02

    Run the command

In your extension’s folder. It switches the ExtPay calls to Toolaby, copies your plans, and takes ExtensionPay’s content script out of the manifest. Toolaby needs no permission ExtensionPay did not, so the update asks your users nothing.

    npx -y toolaby@latest wire <tool-id> --from-extensionpay
  3. 03

    Bring your buyers

Stripe copies your customers and their cards to your new account. Then Toolaby moves each subscription: the same price, renewal day and card, nothing charged on the day, nobody charged twice. One-time buyers come in from a CSV. Each signs in with the address they paid with.
