Plans
Hobby and Pro, what each includes, Enterprise on request, and what happens when a workspace changes plan.
A workspace is on one of two plans with the Wall. Hobby has no monthly price and takes a fee on each sale. Pro has a monthly price and takes no fee. Companies and larger tools can ask for Enterprise.
Hobby was called Free until 30 September 2026. A tool's own Free plan, what its buyers get before paying, is another thing: see Access and features.
This page covers what each plan includes, passes, what happens on an upgrade and a downgrade, and how Test differs.
Hobby and Pro
| Hobby | Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $0 | $25 a month, or $20 a month billed yearly |
| Fee on each sale the Wall makes | 0.5% | 0% |
| Tools, plans, licences, subscriptions, bundles, seats, the Wall popup, Test and Live, the API, webhooks | ✓ | ✓ |
| Passes | 100 live at once | no limit |
| Import from Stripe | sales made before the tool joined the Wall | any sale |

| The line Accounts and licences by Toolaby on the hosted pages and mails | shown | not shown |
| Members | 3 | 10 |
| Devices a month | 2,500 | 50,000 |
On fees alone, Pro costs less from $5,000 of sales a month, or $4,000 billed yearly. Below that, Pro is for what it adds.
The Usage card on the Overview shows devices and members, passes once you give one, and any fair-use limit once 80% of it is used. Configure → Plan shows the same, with the plan and the fee. Limits lists every one. An owner upgrades from either, monthly or yearly: Upgrade shows what Pro includes and what it costs, then Stripe's checkout. Billing is managed in Stripe's portal from Configure → Plan: the interval, the card, invoices and cancelling. Pro is billed on Toolaby's own Stripe account, not on yours.
Passes
A pass is access that no sale through the Wall paid for:
| Pass | Made by |
|---|---|
| A grant | A customer's page, POST /tools/{tool}/grants, or a CSV row with kind grant |
| A licence from a CSV row | The tool's Import page |
| A licence or subscription from a Stripe sale made after the tool joined | The tool's Import page, on Pro |
| A licence or subscription whose Checkout cost nothing | A 100%-off coupon |
| A subscription running without a charge | On your Stripe account: its payments paused, a price or quantity that costs nothing, its trial moved past any the tool offers or begun after the subscription did, sent as an invoice to pay by hand, a dearer price put on with nothing charged for it, or a period that charges did not pay in full — its invoice voided, marked uncollectible, held open or a draft with automatic collection off, left open or a draft past its grace, sent as a bill to pay by hand, marked paid outside Stripe, or paid from credit you gave, a credit note, credit from a charge that was never paid (a pending difference deleted, an upgrade's invoice voided), or credit from a subscription the Wall did not sell. It is a pass while that period lasts, and stops being one when charges pay the next. |
| A team subscription in its trial | Each seat handed out under it, until a charge pays for them: one inbox's trial is one person's |
| A trial you extend past the tool's own | A customer's page, Extend: past the tool's longest trial it becomes a grant |
| A subscription on a Stripe account that disconnected the Wall | Disconnecting the Wall in your Stripe account |
These are not passes: sales through the Wall and the seats under them, trials (a team's aside), and Stripe sales made before the tool joined — each while a charge pays its period. The tool joined on the day it was created; a bundle, on the day the first of its tools was. A bundle that holds sales imported as made before it joined cannot be given a tool that joined earlier: that would move its day back. Make a new bundle for it. A subscription you imported keeps the customer and the seats it came with.
Each period of a subscription is judged by the invoice that billed it, and what paid it. Paid in full by charges through Stripe, it is a sale; on Hobby the charges carry the Wall's fee, as the plan was when the invoice was drafted. Credit counts as paid only when it came from the customer's own plan change on a subscription the Wall sold: a customer who moves to a cheaper plan through the portal is credited the difference, and their next renewals are paid from it — however many times they changed plan or seats in the period, each change's credit passed to the next. The charges behind that credit are judged the same way: on Hobby they carry the Wall's fee. Only credit given since the customer's balance last held none is judged: credit you gave once, and the customer spent, does not make their later credit foreign. Credit from a subscription you made on your Stripe account outside the Wall pays for nothing. A period Stripe is still collecting — its first hour, a bank debit clearing, a retry to come — is not a pass, and neither is one past due, which unlocks nothing. The grace for an invoice to be collected is three days, or a quarter of the period on a shorter one. The Wall judges a period again whenever one of its invoices changes.
A team licence or team subscription that is a pass counts each seat handed out, not the team: a subscription that stops being paid for makes its seats passes from then on, and they stop being passes when it pays again.
On Hobby a workspace holds at most 100 passes at once. A grant that has ended or was revoked stops counting.
| At the limit, on Hobby | |
|---|---|
| A grant from the dashboard | Refused, with the reason. |
| A grant through the API | 403 with plan_limit_error. Made at the same moment as others, a grant beyond the limit is made and held: its live is false. See API. |
| A CSV row | Left out, with the reason. |
| A 100%-off Checkout | The purchase is made and held. |
A held pass unlocks nothing. The customer's page says Held by the plan, and the buyer's account page says On hold. The Wall holds the newest passes beyond 100 each time a pass is made, and each day, and releases held ones, oldest first, when there is room.
Changing plan
| When | Fee on new sales | Fee on running subscriptions | Pro features | Passes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| You upgrade | 0% at once | set to 0% | at once | no limit; held passes released |
| You cancel | 0% until the period ends | unchanged | until the period ends | no limit |
| Pro ends | 0.5% at once | set to 0.5% | 7 more days | refused beyond 100 at once; held beyond 100 after 7 days |
The fee on a running subscription is changed on your Stripe account, soonest renewal first, and on a renewal Stripe has already drafted; Stripe charges it at the subscription's next invoice. Subscriptions imported from before the tool joined carry no fee on any plan. Which subscriptions were imported is recorded by the Wall at the import; metadata on Stripe does not change it.
A Pro renewal that stays unpaid keeps Pro for 14 days from the invoice. After that Pro ends as above, and Configure → Plan offers to pay the invoice in Stripe. Paid, Pro comes back.
A Checkout is charged the fee of the plan when it was opened. A buyer who opened one on Pro and pays after Pro ends pays no fee.
When the 7 days are over:
- Your own domain sends buyers to your workspace's address under the Wall, with the page they asked for.
- Your own pages give way to the hosted pages.
- Mail goes out as Your workspace via Toolaby.
- The line naming Toolaby comes back.
- The first 3 members open the workspace, owners first, then by the day they joined. The others are shown why they cannot.
Nothing is deleted. Upgrading again turns each back on.
Devices
A device counts once in each calendar month it checks in, across your tools. The count is within about 3% and keeps no device's id. A workspace over its plan's devices is told by mail, and Configure → Plan marks it. Nothing stops and nothing is charged automatically.
Enterprise
For companies and larger tools, on request: limits raised for your workspace, team licences past 100 seats, and a person who answers. There is no price list. Write to hello@toolaby.app, or use Talk to us under Configure → Plan.
Test
On Test every feature is on and nothing is billed, except mail from your own domain, which is set up on Live. Test payments carry the Hobby plan's 0.5% fee in test money. The plan is chosen on Live. See Test and Live.
